+ FREE beginner level web design workshop! The Fibres Student Association is inviting all members of the fine arts community to join our Sitespiral, an online network inspired by Webrings of the 90s and early aughts. Our goal is to give our relationship with the internet a little nourishing and revive the excited curiosity of surfing the web. ~This is an experimentation in community building, not not a traditional exhibition and you don’t need to submit high quality images of completed artwork~ Instead, we want you to submit your own web page that somehow represents your creative process and the unique ways your ideas unfold. And! for those unfamiliar with web design, we will be hosting a free online workshop created to equip you with all the necessary skills and resources needed to build your very own web page! The workshop will be held on zoom Thursday, April 15th 2:30 - 6:00 pm. The deadline to submit your webpage is Friday, May 7th at 11:59pm. Let the artworks travel when humans can’t. And we’ll need your help!
Catching yourself staring at the walls of your room for hours without knowing why? In need of any form of usefulness? Our end of the year FSA show could not be held in the form of an actual exhibition due to you know-what, and instead, we’ve come up with an alternative solution to circulate our artists’ works through the process of Mail Art. The artists’ works will be printed in the form of postcards and sent from one address to another through the postal service. We are looking for participants to be a part of this spirit lifting and smashingly exciting event. If you are interested in participating, email us at [email protected] with your mailing address. Once we sign you up, you can expect a new envelope of postcards in the mail every couple of weeks. You get to keep one postcard and leave a trace of your own before mailing it off to the next participant. By the end of this, the envelopes will all be returned to the original artists for them to see all your responses. Y’all take care. Tons of love and hugs.
