The Fibres Student Association (FSA) is a student group dedicated to promoting fibre arts within Concordia. We organize hands-on workshops, exhibits, social events, and opportunities for students to develop their fibre skills and craft-based practices.

Our Constitution
Article 1- Name
Section 1: The organization shall be called the Fibres Student Association, hereafter referred to as the FSA.
Article 2- Objectives
Section 1: to encourage and support fibre-related artwork in Concordia by creating exhibition opportunities within the school and independently.
Section 2: to provide students enrolled in Fibres and Material Practices programs and courses, and all students in Concordia, with networking and community opportunities.
Section 3: to promote awareness and create involvement within the FASA membership and the larger arts community of Montreal and Canada through our workshops, exhibitions, and other community events.
Section 4: to collaborate with other Concordia student associations on events that reach the student population at large.
Section 5: to encourage participation by providing a platform for communication, promotion, and information between the fibre arts community at large and Concordia.
Section 6: to present the fibre world to all Concordia students.
Article 3- Membership
Section 1: FASA recognizes the FSA to be a Community Project representing all students who are interested in fibre arts.
Section 2: Membership shall be extended to all FASA members who wish to join.
Section 3: The FSA welcomes all those who are interested to access our club activities.
Section 4: The recruitment of FSA members will be made throughout the year through posters, flyers, activities, and class presentations of the club.
Article 4- Membership Rights and Responsibilities
Section 1: All FASA members have the right to attend all FSA meetings.
Section 2: All FSA members have the right to examine all records pertaining to the FSA.
Section 3: All FSA members have the right to propose and head new FSA initiatives and goals.
Section 4: All FSA members are allowed to leave the club at any time during the year. However, if the member holds an official position in the club, a replacement must be found prior to the member’s departure.
Section 5: All FSA tasks are spread out evenly amongst members. Tasks are shared and chosen voluntarily based on who wants to do what.
Article 5- Appointment
Section 1: The FSA shall run as a non-hierarchical group to promote equal opportunity for all members.
Section 2: Positions will be distributed by consensus according to necessity, based on member experience and interest.
Article 6- FSA Executive
A- General Coordinator
Section 1: General Coordinator shall facilitate decision-making regarding the club’s priorities.
Section 2: General Coordinator will provide an agenda for and facilitate weekly meetings.
Section 3: General Coordinator shall communicate the club’s decisions to FSA members.
B- Financial Coordinator (Treasurer)
Section 1: The Financial Coordinator shall be responsible for all FSA funds including submitting necessary payments.
Section 2: The Financial Coordinator shall keep accurate digital financial records for review by all FSA members.
Section 3: The Financial Coordinator shall handle all receipt submission to FASA finance.
C- Financial Signing Officers
Section 1: The financial signing officers will be responsible for co-signing financial documents when necessary.
D-Booking Officer
Section 1: The Booking Officer shall reserve all Concordia space for FSA events open to FASA membership.
Section 2: The Booking Officer shall be the primary contact for all FSA fundraisers.
Section 3: The Booking Officer shall be the primary contact for non-fundraising event coordination, including (but not limited to) gallery reservations and jury coordination.
Section 4: Booking Officer is a position that can be shared among numerous FSA members.
E- General Executive Member
Section 1: General Executive Member will collaborate with other executive members in whatever task(s) they feel fit to take on.
Article 7- Terms of Office
Section 1: Term of Office shall be the entirety of the Fall and Winter semesters.
Section 2: Executives shall have the option to step down or exchange positions at the beginning of the Winter semester.
Article 8- Removal from Office
Section 1: Removing an Executive from their position must be discussed at a meeting and an eighty percent majority will be required for the motion to be passed.
Article 9- General Meetings
Section 1: General meetings will be held bi-weekly during the fall and winter academic sessions on a schedule determined by members’ availability. The meetings will occur over video conferencing or in-person depending on public health guidelines and accessibility to students, circumstances permitting. To protect privacy (i.e. from zoombombing), the link will be shared with members and other students who express interest via email.
Section 3: Should the Head Coordinators be unable to attend a meeting, any willing FSA member may facilitate the meeting.
Section 4: An 80% majority is required at meetings for motions to be passed.
